Do Kindle Cases Fit Kobo?
No. A fitted case is molded around one device's exact size, button and port positions, and no Kobo matches a Kindle. The numbers make it obvious: Kobo lists the Clara Colour at 112 x 160 x 9.2 mm and the Libra Colour at 144.6 x 161 x 8.3 mm, while the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite measures about 127.6 x 176.7 x 7.8 mm. Kobo also states that each of its covers is "only compatible" with the models it names. The only cases that move between brands are padded sleeves and universal folios that hold the device with elastic corners or an adhesive pad; they work, but they lose the snug fit and usually the auto sleep/wake.
What to Look For in an E-Reader Case
- Exact compatibility. Match the model name and release year, not just the screen size. A 7-inch Paperwhite case will not fit a 7-inch Kobo Libra Colour.
- Auto sleep/wake. A magnet in the cover wakes the screen when you open it and puts it to sleep when you close it. Every folio and SleepCover below has it; back shells and sleeves do not.
- Style: SleepCover, folio, shell or sleeve. A SleepCover or folio protects the screen and usually folds into a stand. A clear back shell adds grip and keeps the device slim but leaves the screen bare. A sleeve protects in a bag, then comes off to read.
- Water resistance. The Paperwhite (2024), Colorsoft, Kobo Clara Colour/BW and Libra Colour are waterproof (Kobo rates its models IPX8). A case does not change the rating, but a fabric or leather cover will stay wet after a bath or beach day, so a TPU shell or a quick-drying synthetic suits poolside readers better.
- Extras you will actually use. A hand strap for one-handed reading, a stand for the treadmill or kitchen table, and on the Libra Colour or Scribe a stylus holder.
Kindle Paperwhite (2024) and Kindle Colorsoft Cases
The 12th-generation Paperwhite and the Colorsoft share one body shape, so their cases are interchangeable, and both Amazon and third-party makers sell one case for both.

Who it is for: readers who want a guaranteed fit and a cover that feels like a book. What it is like: Amazon's own folio for the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft, made from a plant-based leather alternative with a microfiber lining. Trade-off: fewer colors and a higher price than most third-party cases.
2. Fintie Slim Case — best value folio
Who it is for: most Paperwhite and Colorsoft owners. What it is like: a synthetic-leather folio with a hard back shell, a built-in hand strap and auto sleep/wake. Confirmed Amazon announced a new 6-inch Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft on October 1, 2026. The new models are thinner than the previous generation, and Amazon is selling new covers, including a Page-Turn Cover with physical buttons for the Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Editions (The eBook Reader, Oct 1, 2026; Gizmodo).
Not confirmed Whether 2024 Paperwhite or Colorsoft cases fit the 2026 models. Neither Amazon nor case makers had confirmed cross-fit when we checked, and a thinner body usually means a loose fit. If you pre-ordered a 2026 Kindle, buy a case that names the 2026 model.
Sleeves and Universal Cases
If you own more than one e-reader, or switch brands every few years, a padded sleeve is the one case that fits everything of the right size. It protects in a bag but does nothing while you read, and it has no sleep/wake.
